Pench National Park is a well-known wildlife park in the country of India, situated in Madhya Pradesh, covering part of the Seoni and Chhindwara districts. The park has many trees, rivers, open areas, and wild animals. This place got more attention because "The Jungle Book" story is about here. That is why some people call it Mowgli’s home. Nature lovers and wildlife fans like to visit this place. Tourists come here to see tigers, leopards, wild dogs, deer, and many birds. The park helps protect wildlife and also supports local people by giving them jobs in tourism. Because of this, Pench is becoming a good example of eco-tourism and is attracting more visitors from India and other countries.

Growth Of Foreign Tourists

In the last five years, the number of foreign tourists coming to Pench National Park has increased a lot. In the tourist season of 2019–20, around 6,545 foreign visitors came to the park. By the 2024–25 season, this number went up to almost 12,314. This shows that the number of international visitors has nearly doubled in just five years. This increase certainly shows that Pench National Park is growing in popularity among foreign travelers.

Foreign tourists are mainly interested in the chance to see tigers in their natural habitat. Apart from tigers, they also like watching birds, as the park has many different bird species. The jungle safari gives them a close look at wild animals and a natural environment that feels original and not crowded. Many of them also know about The Jungle Book and come here to see the forest that is connected with that story. Because of all these reasons, Pench National Park is appearing more on the global tourism map.

Growth Of Indian Tourists

The increase in domestic or Indian tourists is even higher than the increase in foreign tourists. Five years ago, only about 57,000 Indian tourists visited Pench National Park. Now, the number has gone up to more than 96,000 visitors in one season. This shows a very strong growth in the interest of Indian families, students, wildlife photographers, and adventure travelers.

The park has become easier to reach from many cities in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, which is why more Indian people are able to come. Roads have improved now, Pench online booking is easy, and hotels are near all main park gates. These things have helped more domestic tourists plan trips here. More families with children are visiting to learn about animals. Students and nature clubs are also arranging trips to understand wildlife. This proves that Pench National Park is not just important for conservation but is also a major tourist attraction in India.

Park Opening Season

You can go to Pench National Park between October and June as it remains open then. These nine months are the best time to visit because animals are easier to see. From November to January, the weather is cold, which makes safari rides more pleasant. In the hotter months like April to June, animals often come near water, so tourists can spot tigers and other animals more easily.

Visitors may also see leopards, wild dogs, deer, jackals, foxes, and birds. The park remains closed in July, August, and September because of heavy rain. This helps protect the roads and forest. The park starts welcoming tourists again in October.

Entry Gates Of Pench

Pench National Park can be entered through three main gates. These are Turia and Karmajhiri in Seoni district, and Jamtara in Chhindwara district. Turia Gate is used the most because it is close to many hotels and is easy to reach from Nagpur. Karmajhiri Gate also gives entry to important areas of the park.

Jamtara Gate, on the Chhindwara side, is quieter but has become more visited in recent years. All gates help manage tourist flow and protect the park. No matter which gate visitors use, they get to enjoy wildlife and the peaceful forest during their safari.

Monthly Tourist Numbers (2024–25 Season So Far)

The current season of 2024–25 has shown very strong numbers of both Indian and foreign tourists.

  • In October, 9,690 Indian visitors and 768 foreign visitors came to Pench National Park.
  • In November, the number increased to 11,364 Indian tourists and 1,740 foreign tourists.
  • December saw 12,498 Indians and 927 foreign tourists.
  • In January, 11,160 Indians and 1,314 foreign tourists visited.
  • In February, there were 9,860 Indians and 2,281 foreigners.
  • In March, the numbers were 5,473 Indians and 2,322 foreigners.
  • In April, 8,762 Indians and 2,362 foreigners visited.
  • In May, the park recorded 14,133 Indians and 468 foreigners.
  • In June, 13,062 Indians and 132 foreign tourists entered the park.
  • By the end of June, the total number reached 96,002 Indian visitors and 12,314 foreign visitors.

This shows that tourists are making Pench online bookings throughout the year and not only in one or two months. It also shows the trust people have in Pench National Park as a safe and reliable place to visit.

Jamtara Gate (Chhindwara Side)

The Jamtara Gate is located in the Chhindwara District, Madhya Pradesh. In earlier years, not many people used this gate, but now it is becoming more popular. Between October 2023 and June 2024, the gate recorded 1,971 Indian visitors and 28 foreign visitors. From October 2024 to March 2025, another 1,501 tourists entered through Jamtara.

This shows that Jamtara is slowly becoming an important entry point for Pench National Park. More tourists prefer this side because it is less crowded compared to Turia. Some people like the peaceful experience that comes with fewer vehicles. With time, more hotels and facilities may also develop near Jamtara, which will bring even more tourists in the future.

Statement From Authority

The Deputy Director of Pench National Park, Mr. Rajneesh Singh, has shared that the number of visitors is increasing every year. He confirmed that the park is becoming more famous and continues to welcome many tourists. He also said that the park will open again in October for the next season, as usual. His statement shows that Pench National Park is not losing popularity; instead, it is growing stronger as a tourist attraction.

Authorities are also working to manage the large number of visitors while protecting the animals and the forest. With more awareness, better facilities, and continued protection of wildlife, the park is ready to welcome even more tourists in the future.
