Pench National Park Rail Connectivity New Projects

India is upgrading its railway system to ease travel and transport in the country. The government has approved the development of three new multi-track railway projects to improve the existing routes. This will ease the traffic on the routes, enabling more trains to run on the routes. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, headed by Narendra Modi, approved the total investment of ₹9,072 crore for the development of the new railway projects.

This is an indication that the government is committed to improving the infrastructure to boost the economy in the long term. In the new system, additional tracks will be added to the existing railway routes to enable the smooth movement of trains in both directions. Around 307 km of the railway network will be added to the existing routes under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.

Railway Routes Included In The New Projects

The newly approved railway initiative includes improvements to three important railway corridors. These routes will receive additional railway tracks in order to increase train capacity and improve railway operations. The main goal is to reduce congestion and allow trains to run more efficiently on busy railway routes across different regions.

The first project is the Gondia–Jabalpur railway corridor. This route will undergo a track doubling project. Track doubling means building another railway line parallel to the existing track. When two tracks are available, trains can move in both directions at the same time. This will reduce waiting time for trains and improve the overall movement of trains on this route.

Punarakh–Kiul railway section is the 2nd project. This section will receive the third and fourth railway lines in addition to the tracks that already exist. Adding two more railway lines will greatly increase the number of trains that can run on this route. This improvement will support both passenger trains and freight trains and will help them move more efficiently.

The third project covers the Gamharia–Chandil railway. Similar to the Punarakh–Kiul section, this route will also receive third and fourth railway lines. These additional tracks will increase the operational capacity of the railway network in this region and help manage the growing demand for railway transport in the coming years.

These railway routes are located across four important Indian states. These states are Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Together, these projects will cover eight districts across these states. The improvements will create stronger railway connectivity between several parts of central and eastern India and support regional transportation needs.

How The Project Will Help Villages And People

The first and foremost advantage of all these railway projects is the improvement of regional connectivity. The improved railway infrastructure will directly benefit villages located near the railway routes, and such villages are around 5,407. The total population of all these villages is around 98 lakh.

For many people, trains are one of the best and most affordable means of transport, especially for those living in rural areas. Better connectivity will help people in these villages travel easily to nearby towns and cities for work, education, shopping, healthcare, and other daily needs. People will be able to travel easily for their day-to-day work and won’t need to spend much time doing so.

Farmers, small traders, & local businesses will also benefit from improved railway transportation. Agricultural products & other goods from rural areas can be transported more easily to larger markets located in cities. Improved transportation will help farmers and traders reach more markets, earn more, and strengthen railway links between villages and nearby towns for easier travel and trade. When transportation becomes easier, economic activities usually increase.

Tourist Places Connected Including Pench National Park

The railway projects will also improve access to several tourist destinations, like Pench National Park, located along these railway routes. Many natural attractions, religious sites, and wildlife areas are located in these regions. Improved rail connectivity will make travel easier for tourists who want to visit these places.

One important religious destination that will benefit from improved railway access is the Kachnar Shiv Temple. This temple is known for its large statue of Lord Shiva & attracts many visitors every year. Pilgrims and tourists travel here from different parts of India.

Another important tourist location that will benefit is Kanha National Park. Known for conserving wildlife and biodiversity, this national park attracts tourists who want to see animals and enjoy nature in protected forest areas.

A major highlight of the improved railway connectivity is Pench National Park. This park is well known for its forest landscapes & diverse wildlife population. It is a popular destination for nature lovers, wildlife photographers, & tourists who want to explore forest ecosystems.

Many visitors travel to the park to enjoy the Pench jungle safari, which allows tourists to explore different forest zones & observe animals in their natural environment. With better railway connectivity, reaching for Pench jungle safari will become easier and more convenient for travelers coming from many cities across India.

Several other tourist attractions will also benefit from improved railway connectivity. Attractions like Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, Gangulpara Dam and Waterfall, Chandil Dam, Dhuandhar Falls, Dalma Hill Top, Hesakocha Waterfall, Raijama Ghati, Bargi Dam, and Gomji-Somji Temple will benefit from better railway access.

Benefits For Train Operations & Passengers

Adding new tracks will improve the efficiency of the trains. This is because, with the addition of new tracks, the railway will be able to operate more trains on the same route. This will ensure that the railway is able to offer more efficient train services. Trains will not need to wait a long time for other trains to pass, which will make train operations faster and more efficient. The trains will be able to run simultaneously on the same route.

This will also allow freight trains to travel on the route, in addition to the passenger trains. There are a number of advantages that the passengers will get from the new tracks. For example, the journey will be quicker, & trains will move smoothly. Also, the time taken to wait for the trains will reduce, & the number of trains will increase on the route. In addition, the passengers will have a number of options to choose the time to travel. Overall, the railway system will become efficient, reliable, and convenient. The new tracks will help both trains and passengers, reducing delays & making journeys faster, with several benefits for train operations and passenger travel
